Soldering is a metal joining process in which an electrical heating element (soldering iron) is used to melt the solder wire (filler material) to cover and fill joint area, thus forming a solid joint almost instantly. Unlike welding, in soldering process base metals are not melted as the the soldering iron temperature does not exceed 400 degrees Celsius. Soldering is widely used for electronics and plumbing applications.
